Urgent Action Needed

Dear Friend,

This Wednesday, January 27, at 9:30 a.m., the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit will hear the case SpeechNow v. FEC to decide if billionaires have the "constitutional right" to pollute political campaigns to any degree that they see fit.

We need to respond. I just contacted the clerk of the Court to share my thoughts and voice my support for real freedom of speech. I hope you'll join me.

Click this link to use Rep. Alan Grayson's site to send a message to the court: http://salsa.mydccc.org/o/30019/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=6&tag=court_contact_taf

It seems incomprehensible to me that anyone who claims to stand in defense of this country could do so by perverting the meanings found in our most sacred documents, The Constitution and Bill of Rights. It should be recognized as blatantly obvious that the greed of corporations and their special interest lobby groups have wreaked havoc on our Republic. They have been allowed into the very nerve center of our Democratic processes and through unchecked stealth, have been able to contaminate the decisions of our political leaders by relying on the worst of human weaknesses and that is greed.
They are now allowed to do so freely and in the open and would like us to believe that it will have positive results. We all know, or at least should have recognized the damage this can cause from the pollution that covers our planet to the ridiculous prices we pay for goods. These are the gifts of corporate lobbyists but that is not all they want. This new issue goes even further by allowing individuals the same unlimited access to ask for special favors with large contributions. Contact the courts and tell them enough is enough. Right now because there is no time to wait.
